Beaver Creek of the Gunnison River will truly be your next epic Adventure. This section of water offers riffles, bouldery, and meandering sections. You will most likely find solitude here among the varying wilderness landscape. There’s rumors of a special strain of trout here and who doesn’t love a new trout off breed? A good way to approach this creek is with the dry-dropper Combo. Start with a dry fly either, imitative or attractor, then add two feet of tippet to the hook (give or take). Next put on a dropper, normally a bead head weighted fly. If using a non-weighted fly, use light split shot to get the dropper down without bringing down the dry fly.  Another affective combo is the hopper-copper-dropper combo, this allows you use three flies. Follow the same set-up except use a bead head nymph second, and add either, another bead head nymph to the hook of the second fly, or a non-weighted fly. Both methods can be used and should produce results. Don’t be afraid to switch up your tactics to what the fish are going for, for instance throw more nymphs if they are eating sub surface only. As always, watch out for private property and respect the land owners and their land by staying off it without permission to access.
