If you’re looking for large fish or large quantities of fish, Big Cottonwood Creek will likely not be an excellent option for you. However, if you like solitude and hiking through dense brush for an opportunity to land native Cutthroat Trout, you may enjoy Big Cottonwood Creek.

Most of Big Cottonwood Creek is lined with steep banks, willows, and low-hanging trees, sometimes all three in the same spot—a 7.5ft – 3w rod is recommended on this trip. A skilled “bow and arrow” caster will have significantly more access to the small pools with fish.
