I spent a lot of time up on Italian creek and the fish are plentiful and willing to eat with a good drift. The river itself is lined with a bunch of foliage (willow brush, hard to get through and full of unstable ground and holes, so walk carefully) and has tough drifts, so the key is getting a good drift, and the fish will be willing to eat. The fish aren’t too large, but it’s a great small creek to work on your small stream skills and a place to get away from the crowds. If you’re willing to hike, the future up you get the less crowded and if you target the south fork, it’s small, but I doubt anyone fishes it. Enjoy this gem up in taylor park.
