La Garita Creek is built of many great long runs, beaver dams, flooded willows, and some nice deep pools known for holding larger fish. The primary species that inhabit this creek are defintley browns with occasional rainbow. There is no shortage of brown trout ranging anywhere from 8-13 inches and sometimes larger. River access is simple. Drive down La Garita Creek Rd until you hit the Little La Garita State Trust land. From there, it is almost all public. When the road gets bumpy, it’s public! If you can find a nice spot to fight through the willows and get down to the water you are home free to a great day of fishing. Enjoy!
