Prospect creek is a small creek up in the Alamosa river headwaters and paired with Treasure creek it’s a place that grants solitude and beauty and a chance at catching cutthroat trout.  Places like this are rare and take a lot of effort to access, but the fishing experience is unique and harder to find these days.  You won’t find any fish about 12 inches in this river, but the fish are beautiful and the scenery is great.

Standard dry flies with a dropper nymph will put you on the most fish as well as a small streamer if you’re fishing back out of the valley.  Please do your part to protect this area if you fish it. Leave no trace, make no firepits or anything of that nature in the valley, and above all, practice catch and release and keep your hands wet when handling fish to ensure a good fishery for future generations.
