San Isabel Creek is classic small water brook trout creek. There is no shortage of fish although beginners may have a hard time casting underneath the shaded canopy of pine trees. The “bow and arrow” technique will work well shooting small dry flies and nymphs will produce many small brook trout ranging from 4-10 inches. The shade provided by the trees makes it a great all day fishing spot. Do not forget your bug spray! This creek and others nearby have heartless, ruthless, relentless mosquitos. Wear long sleeves, long pants, and do not hesitate to bring a bug net.
