Tarryall creek is a small to medium sized river that holds some small to medium sized brown and rainbow trout.  Often getting less pressure than the south platte river nearby, the tarryall has limited access to public fishing.  The river has some variety of fishing to experience since there are meadow areas, national forest areas and tailwaters to fish.  Driving along the road along the river you can do some exploring and find some water where you may find some solitude.  There are a couple miles of fishable water above the reservoir and about a 1/4 mile of fishing below the reservoir.  There is park and hike access off como boreas pass and the Cline SWA is right off the road in Fairplay.  Access to the lower section near the south platte confluence requires a pretty good hike so plan accordingly.

The fish aren’t as big as the fish in the platte but the fishing is good to excellent during the spring to fall and makes for a good day to explore some new water.
