The Rio Blanco River is geologically different from many of the other rivers in the Pagosa Spring area. Shale and sandstone bottoms make give this river a unique sleek blue hue. There have been many stream restoration projects going on since 1987. Adding more structure for fish such as large boulders and logs have deepened the river from a few inches to now several feet.  Since then, the fishery has been much more productive. Rainbows exceeding 20 inches often. It is nicknamed “Mini Yosemite”. Ready yourselves for solitude and a wild adventure in a wild place.
