blue-river-headwaters-section-1The headwaters section of the Blue is often overlooked since the tailwater section of the Blue in Silverthorne is such a powerhouse for big fish.  The upper section all the way to the headwaters can hold a variety of Rainbows, Browns and Brook Trout.  In the town of Breckenridge, there are some great plunge pools and improved water that makes the fishing decent and gives an opportunity for larger fish.

Lots of runs, riffles, pools and beaver ponds exist in this section and though access is simple from the road, walking along the river in the upper sections is a little sketchy.  Overall, this section is a great place to avoid the crowds and catch some fish only an hour or so from Denver.
