Canyon Creek is abundant of sheer wildness and adventure. The surrounding mountains, canyons, and bluff walls are referred to as “The Switzerland of America”. The blue/green color of the water, compliments the massive rock formations above. Unlike some of the creeks along the million dollar highway that have been lost to mining spills, the fishing in Canyon Creek is surprisingly good! It is located just north the town of Ouray where it dumps into the famous Uncompahgre River. You can find rainbow trout ranging from 10-14 inches, as well as many brook trout. Canyon Creek lends itself well to dry/dropper style fishing. Do not get too excited and get yourself in trouble getting down to the water as it can be quite dangerous. The rocky ledges are often used by experienced rock climbers, so do be careful but go get lost in the amazing views, soak up this adventure and have fun.
