Michigan river has the most access of the North Platte tributaries.  Diamond J and other SWA access points provide some fun fishing for primarily brown trout.  With good patience, some large fish can be found fishing the cut banks on streamers.  The bugs and wind can be a real bother during some times of the year so come prepared with bug spray and a 4-6wt to cast.  Dry dropper rigs do great for the small to medium sized fish and is the best way to work up the river.  Fish downstream on your way back for the larger fish towards the end of daylight (again watch for mosquitos).  The national forest sections fish well too and have ample access to hike and fish for a pleasant day or weekend spent up in North Park.

The lower stretches are meandering meadows and the gradient and streamside foliage increases as you get up towards the headwaters.
