For those who like to hike and fish, snowmass creek is a fun option up in the carbondale valley area.  A medium drive up snowmass creek road will land you at maroon snowmass trailhead where you can hop on the river and fish it up stream through the brush catching eager trout along the way.

Its a gorgeous area and best fished after runoff in summer into fall. Spring is really wet and often too snowy still to enjoy this area.  Trout are easy to catch and not large, but gorgeous.  The mountains up there produce some gorgeous fish and it’s one of many small creek gems up in the area.
