If you feel sporty and want to escape the crowds, get some exercise, and test out your legs then Turkey Creek is one to make or break you. Access is extremely difficult due to the elevation loss hiking from the road down to the creek as well as the thick oak brush. You can find deer/elk trails to follow but I consider this a bushwhack. There are a few areas you can pull over and hike down. Once you make it down to the creek there is a lot of foliage that can make casting difficult but not impossible. Turkey Creek is loaded with rainbow trout, browns, cutthroats, and brook trout. Test your skills on Turkey Creek!

Midge Hatches
Midges hatch year round, but their importance is from September through winter into April. During the warmer months, the trout often focus on larger insects as they are more active on the water like mayflies, caddis and stoneflies.

We have some great stonefly hatches in Colorado and while not all rivers carry all species of salmonflies, you can often fish stonefly adult patterns with confidence from May to September. Start off in bigger sizes and get smaller till September hits (size 8 - 16)
