Cave Creek is a pristine and beautiful creek that meanders through the the La Garita mountains. The water is soft, gentle, and easy to read. Not to mention full of many hungry fish. The creek widens in certain spots and creates some backwater beaver pond areas that make great habitat for brook trout.. There are many brook trout here ranging from 4-10 inches with a soft spot for a small dry fly. The creek gets skinny in some sections and is covered in willows in others making it not as ideal for fishing but by traveling the road you can spot decent sized runs that will hold fish. It is an efficient river to fish along with the other small creeks in the area such as Carnero, South Carnero, and Poso Creeks.
