The middle Section of the Dolores River is a fun and engaging fishery.  Though the access is less than desirable due to the private property, the fishing spots you do find are scenic and full of a variety of browns and rainbows.  It’s worth the stops along the access points listed (checking for private property boundaries) to fully explore and fish this river.  To get here you pretty much have to commit to this river as there isn’t much more around and to get here takes a while from most locations.

The upper stretches is better fishing in my opinion, but this section is worth exploring as well.  Expect to use a variety of dry flies and nymphs and there are even sections worth euro nymphing.  Don’t overlook emerging insects during the summer months as the trout seem to really key in on these and they can be easily overlooked.
