Like most rivers in town, they are overlooked because people don’t want to fish next to a street cleaner, they want to fish next to mountains and wilderness.  However, if you can enjoy your surroundings on the river, the town section of the Poudre can produce some good fishing as well with a chance at more sizeable browns.  Browns tolerate warmer water than other trout species and can grow faster down in warmer water.  Crawdads are all over the river and browns get big fast on these protein packed meals.  A variety of dry, nymph and streamer techniques will put fish to net in the town section.

Though the canyon is often the better place to fish, if you only have a few hours or can’t get up into the canyon, the town section can put you on some fish and help you get your fly fishing fix in for the day.
