Cochetopa creek is a unique experience in an open valley, few trees and deep water.  You have a good chance to fish wild trout in these waters and catch them on dries, nymphs or streamers.  The upper section is full of meadow fishing and the lower section provides canyon style angling.   Cochetopa holds wild reproducing trout and should be carefully handled with a net to maintain their populations.  These fish will fight hard and show their wild heritage.

Los Pinos Creek is also fishable and accessible and offers similar fishing.  This is not to be confused with the Los Pinos River which is further south.

NOTE:  Only Cochetopa Canyon is dog friendly.  The SWA sections of Cochetopa valley and los pinos creek valley is not open to dogs due to the cattle and free range.
