The upper section of the Laramie river sees little to medium pressure and has a lot of access.  Filled with small and eager brown and brook trout, you can fish this area in the summer and the fall.  The road is closed until June most years so treat it like a high mountain lake as far as availability and access.

The lower section (hohnholz SWA) changes the design of the river and produces more meadow fishing with some great scenery and greater variety of trout in species and size.  Rainbows, Cutbows and Browns are caught here and in the lakes.  There are 3 lakes near the Hohnholz campground area so you can camp and fish stillwater and streams as well as the surrounding inlet creeks.  Solitude is fairly easy to find as there isn’t much else around here aside from fishing and farming so you can often enjoy solitude, especially during the weekdays.
