The Slate river is a fun little creek that has some great habitat and a fun place to throw a line.  Easy access above crested butte with miles of fishable water makes it a great place to spend a day or afternoon when in the area.  Fish are smaller, but there are some fun places to cast and enjoy.  Be careful to protect these waters by rinsing boots ahead of time as it is an area where critical research is done on entomology and introducing invasive species would be detrimental to the fish and insect populations.
